Outlaws Fight Warriors To The Death

Nottingham scored inside the final two minutes to win a hard fought battle between themselves and the Sheffield Hallam Warriors.
Despite the score line both offences moved the ball very effectively with most drives stalling after a couple of first downs. Both teams looked like they could score but it took over 58 minutes of football for the deadlock to be broken.
After some solid defence, Chris O’Dea recovered a fumble, after he forced it with a sack, just outside the Sheffield 20 yard line. A solid run from Marc Herman was called back for a penalty, before Nottingham gained a first down on the Sheffield 11 yard line. The outlaws then got what they had been craving for the whole game. A superb pass from Si Denning was acrobatically caught by Kabeer Paliwalla in the back of the endzone for the go ahead score. The extra point was missed.
The defense knew all they had to do now was stand strong and the game would belong to Nottingham. An interception by Matt Hudson secured the win, after kneel downs.
This is Nottingham’s third shutout out of four games and they will be looking to continue this after christmas.
Final Score 6-0 to the Outlaws.

Offence Fail Under Floodlights

In the wake of the news that the team will split at the end of the season, the Nottingham Outlaws travelled to Sheffield to face the Sabres under floodlights.
The Outlaws received the ball to start the game and a good return by Tim Wainwright saw them start around their own 40 yard line. A couple of good runs from Marc Herman and a pass from Simon Denning to Manjit Dulay saw Nottingham drive into Sheffield’s territory. But an interception stalled the drive and gave the Sabres the ball around Midfield.
The first Sheffield possession caught the Nottingham Defence off guard. A superb 40yd dash saw the Sabres arrive at the Outlaws one yard line. The opening score came just moments later when a dive up the middle just went into the endzone. The extra point was good and the Sabres led 7-0.
Very little happened on the next few drives as both defences started to dictate the game as several punts followed. The next score came just after the outlaws went three and out. A superb punt by Rob Mobey was downed on the Sabres one yard line and as the Outlaws ‘D’ came onto the field they could sense a score. Sheffield’s first play was stuffed in the backfield by Luke Brafield assisted by Ollie Blears, the result being a safety. The score was then 7-2 and this was how it remained until the half.
The outlaws kicked off for the second half. During the kickoff a Sabres player suffered a serious injury, which led to a further delay. However this did not faze either defence as there was no score in the third quarter.
At the start of the fourth quarter the Nottingham offence again had no luck and when Mobey came onto punt again it was blocked which gave Sheffield superb position inside the Nottingham redzone. The Sabres converted their chance with another rushing score and extended their lead to 13-2. The extra point was missed due to a muffed snap, so this was how the score remained.
It was not until the final two minutes until the Outlaws offence finally got moving. Two catches by Jack Carroll over the middle saw them drive into Sabres territory again. The drive that looked to be heading towards a score was again abruptly ended by an interception and with this ended the chances of an Outlaws comeback.
Final Score 13-2 to the Sheffield Sabres
Turnovers Prove Key

The Outlaws kicked off their season with an impressive defensive display as they beat the Longhorns with a shutout.
The Longhorns received the ball at the start of the game and initially their offense looked impressive. They drove the ball 30 yards downfield before Chris O’Dea stepped up to make an interception for the away team. Both teams were then ineffective on their ensuing drives as an exchange of punts followed.
The first score of the day came towards the end of the first quarter. Leicester went three and out and elected to punt. However the snap was too high and despite many calls from the Nottingham sideline that it was a safety the ball was recovered by the Leicester punter on their own inch line. It took just one play for the outlaws to get the six points on the board, Marc Herman driving through the line for the go-ahead score. The outlaws decide to go for two but the attempt failed.
With three minutes left in the first half linebacker Ollie Blears recovered a fumble for the Outlaws on the half-way line, forced by Alex Gordon. The Nottingham offense then kicked into life with their hurry up offence. A mixture of runs and passes including a 30 yard grab by Tom Wallis got them into the Longhorns redzone. With just 5 seconds left in the half the Outlaws snapped the ball from out eight yards out. A superb pass by quarterback Simon Denning was caught by Tight End Manjit Dulay in the endzone for a 12-0 lead. Again the PAT was failed.
The Outlaws and Longhorns continued to struggle offensively but when a forced fumble by Danny Doyle was then recovered by linebacker James Beaumont on the Leicester five yard line the Nottingham offence made easy work of punching it in. Good blocking upfront lead to Marc Herman again pounding the ball in for the final score of the day. The Outlaws again elected to go for two but were unable to convert.
After a final exchange of punts the game ended on an unfortunate note, however, as the Leicester QB was injured on the last play of the game.
Final Score 18-0 to the Outlaws.
